4 Months Old...

Chase turned 4 months old on the 8th and had his doctor's appointment on the 10th. I was really excited to go to the doctor just to see how he was progressing and get some answers to questions that I had for the doctor. The only thing I wasn't excited about was the fact that he had to get shots. The first thin the doctor said when he came in was how well Chase held his head up and because of that and how much he sucks on his hands and brings things to his mouth, the doc said he is ready for rice cereal. I was hoping they would say that we could start him on that, I'm really excited!!  It's been a few days and I still haven't tried it but Chris is out of town and I thought he might want to be there for the first time we try to feed him.

The doctor appt went really well, the doctor said everything was great and he actually did well getting his shots. He cried for about two minutes and was a little fussy that afternoon but he slept great that night and was as happy as could be the next day. I'm grateful he handles his shots so well!

  • Chase still always has his hands in his mouth
  • He is SO close to rolling over from his back to his tummy, I thought for sure he was going to do it today. I bet he does by the end of the week.
  • When he is sitting in your lap he usually wants to stand, he thinks he is so strong!
  • He sleeps in a really weird position, it's like he's sleeping on his side with his head twisted all weird.
  • He laughs more and more everyday and his laughs are like deep throat groans. I don't even know how to explain it but it cracks me up. You'd think his throat has to hurt.
  • He went from the 10% in height to the 3% and is now in the 20% in weight and the 70% in his head. So, he's probably not going to be a basketball player!
  • He recently regressed in his sleeping. He was only waking up once a night and started waking up twice and sometimes three times a night. Um....not cool! The doctor told us to feed him before we went to bed around 10:30 or 11:00 which we have been doing, then he wakes up once, usually around 5:30.
  • He squaks and talks really loud when he is playing by himself
After we got back from the doctor a couple hours later I changed his diaper and there was blood in his poop. I really freaked me out so Chris called the doctor and the doctor called me back later that night. He said that more than likely Chase has Colitis caused from a dairy intolerance and told me that the only way to treat it was for me to go off dairy COMPLETELY for 6 months. WHAT??? That was one of the worst things I could hear besides something worse being wrong with Chase. I eat so much dairy. It's a lot harder than I thought it would be but it's definitely worth it if it helps Chase feel better. I actually feel bad that we didn't think to do this sooner, for his sake and ours! :-)
It's only been a couple days but so far I am going strong! Luckily, Chris said he would do it with me which will help me a ton.
